Meet Kaspar Ilves, Insly’s Chief Product Officer
This time, we had a chat with Kaspar Ilves, our Chief Product Officer. He says that it’s highly important that people’s mindset, approach to challenges, and the way they set goals are aligned. This has helped the Insly team to build insurance software that is easy to use and for partners to add new insurance products in a simple way.

What has your journey been like at Insly?
In 2019, I was coming from organising an international conference in Tallinn for around 5000 participants from over 100 countries. This is when Insly’s Business Architect Marko Meinson, turned to me and said that Insly would need support in building a brand new product. I had been working with Marko before and I trusted that his way of building new products and services would match mine.
I think it is highly important that people’s mindset, approach to challenges, and the way they set goals are aligned. This has helped our team to build insurance software that is easy to use and to which adding new insurance products and partners is simple.
Your work at Insly as Chief Product Officer. As simple as possible: what do you do and how does that help customers?
My duty is to take care of the big picture – look at the product as a whole and make sure that everyone is moving together in the right direction. The boat can only arrive at its destination when everyone rows in the same direction.
I am blessed to be part of such a great team! Every week, I am inspired by the ideas and solutions that my team members come up with to make the life of our customers easier, more enjoyable, and cost-efficient.
What makes Insly different from other insurtechs?
We have experience in building insurance products for many years already. That gives us profound knowledge of customer needs as well as pitfalls of the product.
We have amazing individuals with extensive experience in the insurance field, who understand how the finances flow. That gives us a great and very necessary understanding of the business.

I would say trustworthy, transparent, and talented. As I mentioned, we have extensive experience in the insurance space with the most talented people in our team. We are open and honest in interacting with our customers, which adds trust and transparency to the bunch.
Can you point out some of the most interesting projects you have been involved in?
It is definitely very exciting to start working with the insurance company as a partner before they have got a license, build a brand new software for them, and grow together with them.
Thanks to our excellent understanding of the business, in every project we try to discuss the root causes and underlying needs of the customer to find the best possible solution. That has always been very interesting and led to positive cooperation.
