Last year,\u00a0we published a\u00a0list\u00a0of (mostly UK-specific) MGA software houses that cater to the MGA business model<\/strong> in some form or another\u00a0(read here<\/em>\u00a0MGA Software Providers<\/em><\/a>). To our surprise, the\u00a0feedback\u00a0was extremely positive\u00a0as it seems that MGA software\u00a0providers are few and far\u00a0between and not all\u00a0providers say\u00a0outright\u00a0that\u00a0their solutions work for MGAs, which\u00a0sometimes makes them difficult\u00a0to track down.
\nWe\u2019ve had the pleasure of speaking to\u00a0many Canadian MGAs\u00a0and\u00a0market practitioners\u00a0over the past 6 months\u00a0and\u00a0having\u00a0done\u00a0a tour of \u201cthe Great White North\u201d\u00a0recently,\u00a0we decided to expand upon last year\u2019s list\u00a0by sharing our findings of the Canadian market.\u00a0A couple of general observations:
\nFirstly, there\u00a0is a limited number of\u00a0\u201cpure\u00a0MGA systems\u201d\u00a0available in the market<\/strong>.\u00a0Most of the platforms out there\u00a0are\u00a0modified\u00a0broker platforms with\u00a0a combination\u00a0of\u00a0added\u00a0insurer functionalities\u00a0to adapt them for\u00a0MGA use.\u00a0The resulting list is also mixed\u00a0functionality-wise, with some\u00a0solutions\u00a0focusing on\u00a0distribution,\u00a0some on claims, some on policy admin and some do a\u00a0combination\u00a0of everything.
\nSecondly, specialized\u00a0solutions for commercial insurance rating do not seem to be readily available<\/strong>.
\nIf you run an MGA in Canada\u00a0and are looking to digitize your business,\u00a0here\u00a0are some\u00a0companies worth looking into:<\/p>\n

\nApplied Systems<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 a\u00a0large\u00a0and\u00a0well-established\u00a0insurance software house, headquartered in the US.
\nBrokerlift<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0a\u00a0Toronto-based\u00a0insurtech\u00a0startup, focusing on product distribution\u00a0via \u201cquote and buy\u201d\u00a0functionality.
\nCSSI<\/a> \u2013\u00a0Canadian\u00a0company catering\u00a0to brokers, insurers, and MGAs. Underwriter Workstation is the name of their MGA offering.
\nEbix<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0a large and well-established software company, headquartered in the US.
\nEncircle<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0cloud-based productivity tools and mobile applications\u00a0for claims management and other processes. Ontario-based.
\nClickcapital<\/a>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Insurevue\u00a0is the name of their Salesforce-powered\u00a0application, which is\u00a0modified for the insurance market, including MGA use.
\nInsurital<\/a> \u2013\u00a0a standardized system for Commercial Insurance brokers. Some features could potentially be used by MGAs.
\nInstanda<\/a> \u2013\u00a0A UK company,\u00a0Instanda\u00a0focus\u00a0is solely\u00a0on product distribution, but\u00a0based on what we have heard, does this very well.
\nInsly<\/a> \u2013 since 2015,\u00a0we have\u00a0been helping\u00a0MGAs from the UK and\u00a0other markets\u00a0make their business more efficient\u00a0and\u00a0are\u00a0now in Canada!\u00a0Give us a shout and we\u2019re happy to tell you all about our solutions.\u00a0<\/strong>
\nIntelligent Broker Systems<\/a> \u2013\u00a0BC-based\u00a0company. Various features on a platform that seems to integrate with existing Policy Management Systems
\nInsurance Systems Inc.<\/a> \u2013\u00a0a browser-based policy administration system\u00a0with a specialized\u00a0Marine Cargo solution separately available.
\nKEAL<\/a> \u2013\u00a0Canada-based company related to US software giant Vertafore.\u00a0Various\u00a0specialised product suites available.
\nMGA Systems Inc<\/a> \u2013\u00a0an installed solution, with a seemingly wide choice of functionality .
\nOceanwide<\/a> \u2013\u00a0have a cloud-based end-to-end solution for P&C insurance as well as a specialized system for Marine Cargo.
\nPolicyworks<\/a> \u2013\u00a0this local company provides a solution\u00a0for issuing policy documents and\u00a0bordereaux\u2019s\u00a0mainly directed at commercial lines brokers.
\nVIO<\/a> \u2013\u00a0another platform built on top of Salesforce, dedicated to commercial insurance management.
