Claims handling accounts for around\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fca.org.uk\/publication\/market-studies\/ms18-1-2-annex-2.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">75% of total costs in motor and about 55% in home<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0cover, according to the Financial Conduct Authority. Furthermore, last year, experts stated that an average of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cwmc.info\/claims-leakage\/#:~:text=Claims%20leakage%20has%20a%20huge%20impact%20on%20insurer%20profitability.&amp;text=Our%20research%20reveals%20an%20average,from%202.5%25%20to%2018%25.\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11% of claims settlements<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> could be classified as leakage through inefficiencies and human error.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Digitising and automating key aspects of the claims process can help insurance companies overcome many of these challenges and deliver a more convenient and streamlined experience for customers and staff. In fact, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insurancetimes.co.uk\/analysis\/claims-handling-the-number-one-target-for-human-led-ai-integration\/1455292.article\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">over <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">two-thirds of insurance industry professionals view the claims process as one of the prime areas for augmentation by AI.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re unsure how an automated claims process will differ from the traditional claims journey, here we outline how it transforms the key stages.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>How will an automated claims process differ from traditional claims?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>First Notification of Loss (FNOL)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of calling a contact centre to log a claim, with insurance software, a customer can claim through various channels, from self-service to email or an online chatbot, 24 hours a day. They can upload documents relevant to their claim, including photos, receipts, police reports, and medical records. This data is automatically logged in the system, visible to relevant and authorised staff. It can also be sent to Anti Money Laundering (AML) and sanctions check databases, where required.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Data validation and fraud detection\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of manually checking all claims for fraud, claims teams can set insurance software to verify key information for consistency and automatically flag suspect claims via an alarm.
