The businesses below have grown into some of the largest delegated underwriting authorities in the country, some through acquisition and consolidation, others by building out specialist product lines one at a time. <\/span>Here’s<\/span> our pick of ten of the biggest UK MGAs worth watching, and <\/span>what’s<\/span> driving their growth.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

CFC Underwriting<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

CFC is the UK’s largest independent MGA, with a significant share of its business international, particularly in North America. It pioneered cyber insurance and now writes around 50 specialty products across <\/span>roughly 20<\/span> classes for more than 150,000 businesses in 90 countries, backed by an in-house CFC Response breach team and a live pilot of agentic AI quoting for low-complexity risks.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DUAL UK<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

DUAL, part of Howden Group, has built one of the broadest specialty books in the UK MGA market, spanning 27+ product lines and 500+ people across professional indemnity, cyber, M&A\/transactional risk, construction and bloodstock and equine cover. It keeps expanding by acquisition, adding travel-failure specialist International Passenger Protection in 2024, and in July 2026 launched a unified global Transactional Risk practice.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pen Underwriting<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

Pen Underwriting is one of the UK’s largest MGAs, running its own pricing, claims and actuarial functions across property owners, construction and casualty, marine, motor trade and sports and leisure lines on behalf of its capacity partners. It hit a major premium milestone ahead of schedule in 2024, and in August 2026 doubled its property owners’ capacity to \u00a3120m through a new deal with Endurance Worldwide.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rokstone<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

Rokstone<\/span>, the underwriting arm of <\/span>Aventum<\/span> Group, works with more than 30 capacity partners across property, marine, aviation, <\/span>casualty<\/span> and financial institutions. <\/span>It’s<\/span> expanded fast, adding new Lloyd’s <\/span>coverholder<\/span> boxes, a Dubai office, new cyber and healthcare divisions and, in April 2026, its first acquisition under <\/span>Aventum<\/span> in marine specialist Post & Co.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Optio Group<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

Optio<\/span> Group has grown from a single-product start-up in 2018 into a specialty MGA platform spanning 30+ products from 18 offices in 15 countries. In July 2026, private equity firms Cinven and La Caisse agreed to jointly <\/span>acquire<\/span> a majority stake from existing backer Preservation Capital Partners, with founder-CEO Deepak Soni and the management team <\/span>remaining<\/span> in place.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nexus Underwriting<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

Nexus Underwriting, part of Brown & Brown’s Arrowhead Intermediaries platform since 2023, <\/span>operates<\/span> through 300+ people across three continents, spanning 20 risk classes from trade credit and financial lines to aviation. It keeps adding specialist capability, folding medical-tourism MGA Sure Insurance Services into its Millstream Underwriting business in January 2026 and launching a US fine art line in April 2026.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Carbon Underwriting\u00a0<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

Carbon Underwriting, an appointed representative of Davies MGA Services, writes primarily into its own dedicated Lloyd’s syndicate, 4747, the first Syndicate-in-a-Box to graduate to full syndicate status, with a second syndicate, 5757, in the pipeline. <\/span>It’s<\/span> grown quickly since 2023, and in June 2026 backer Apiary Capital sold its stake to FTV Capital in a growth-equity deal reported at a 6x return.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

MX<\/b> Underwriting\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n

Founder Jantharna Kaenprakhamroy started Tapoly after struggling to insure a short-term Airbnb let. It’s grown into flexible, on-demand cover for freelancers, professionals and businesses across the sharing economy, with a fully digital quote process and white-labelled SaaS options for wholesale and retail partners.<\/p>\n

Bspoke Insurance Group<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

Bspoke<\/span> Insurance Group brings together niche MGA brands spanning commercial, property, high-net-worth, lifestyle and sports and leisure cover, and has grown through a <\/span>SiriusPoint<\/span> capacity deal and acquisitions including Miramar Underwriting. NFP, an Aon company, <\/span>acquired<\/span> the group in August 2025, its constituent brands continue to <\/span>operate<\/span> independently<\/span> and it won MGA of the Year at the 2025 National Insurance Awards.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prestige Underwriting<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

Surety bonds (performance, retention, advance payment) are a persistent capacity gap for UK construction and property firms. DRS Bond MGA, backed by DRS Bond Management’s underwriting expertise, brings brokers uncollateralised surety terms so clients can meet contractual and regulatory requirements without tying up working capital.<\/p>\n

Constant innovation is only possible with the right systems behind it.
