A good insurance software demo is not an accident. Vendors rehearse them, polish <\/span>them<\/span> and steer them toward the strongest parts of the product. That is not a criticism. We do it too. But it means the demo alone is a poor basis for a platform decision. What you do in the two weeks after matters more than the hour itself.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ask for your own workflow, not the happy path<\/h2>\n

The demo showed the product at its best. The follow-up session should show it at your messiest. Bring a real product, a real <\/span>submission<\/span> and your most awkward rating logic, then ask to see them handled end to end. A vendor confident in the product will welcome it.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Get into a sandbox<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

A demo shows what the vendor chose to show. A sandbox shows what your team can do unsupervised. Ask for access, give it to the people who will live in the system daily and set them one task: build a simplified version of one of your products. How far they get without help tells you more than any feature list.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Talk to customers who started where you are<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ask the vendor for references whose starting point looked like yours rather than their biggest logo. District Cover<\/a> is transforming US property insurance on Insly. Stadium Insurance<\/a> built sports memorabilia insurance on the platform. London Marine<\/a> doubled productivity after making the switch. Calls with businesses your size surface what demos never show: implementation reality, support quality and what changed in year two.<\/p>\n
