AI makes Insly feel “like a new startup”: Risto Rossar on The Voice of Insurance Podcast

Risto Rossar, founder and CEO of Insly, returned to the Voice of Insurance podcast this month to chat with insurance journalist and editor Mark Geoghegan about his business success, Insurtech innovation, and his passion for AI.

Kicking off the discussion, Risto provides a recap of his career so far, including his transition from running a broker business to starting Insly, and why he is a “builder and innovator”, not a manager.

He updates listeners on Insly’s recent growth, including how the business has reached profitability, with a loyal client base and longevity in the market. He also outlines Insly’s three strategic pillars for the future: Accelerating sales, developing AI, and seeking out acquisitions.

Later in the episode, Mark and Risto dig into the Insurtech landscape and the rapid emergence of AI. Key questions include whether AI will eat no-code software, why AI should be treated like a team member, and why “showing your working” is so important with AI outputs.

For Risto, the low-hanging fruit for AI is in driving efficiency savings in areas such as data transfer, proposal generation, and broker submissions, which are the focus of Insly’s new tool FormFlow. But he is confident that fundamental AI disruption is coming to insurance; the question is where and who will it come from?

Watch the full discussion here for all the insights and why Risto’s focus on AI has made Insly feel “like a new startup” again.
